Myrsky

Myrsky (2015) is a ceramic tableware set. The design is very simple and functional. Sirena got the inspiration to the glazings from the drawings she made as a child.

Usually the model for gypsum mould is made of gypsum but Sirena wanted to try wood for that, because the material is more familiar to her than gypsum. She turned wood on lathe and made the surface treatment with special spray that protects the wood from water. She had to make the treatment at least with five thin layers of spray. The experiment went pretty well although the water got a little bit into the wood, which gives natural texture on the mould.

It’s possible to make different variations by cutting the clay item in different heights.
